Love and Basketball
Hearts will be won this week as Jacke and Danielle take on the 2000 romantic sports film Love and Basketball. Simone and Bria from the Role Call podcast join in the fun to discuss this modern classic. Monica and Quincy are childhood friends who both aspire to be professional basketball players. Quincy, whose father, Zeke, plays for the Los Angeles Clippers, is a natural talent and a born leader. Monica is ferociously competitive but sometimes becomes overly emotional on the court. Over the years, the two begin to fall for each other, but their separate paths to basketball stardom threaten to pull them apart. The movie stars Sanaa Lathan, Omar Epps, Kyla Pratt, Alfre Woodard, Dennis Haysbert, Regina Hall, Gabrielle Union, and Debbi Morgan. The film was also directed and written by Gina Prince-Bythewood.
